The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) has opened the country consultation round for a number of draft International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs), draft specifications for ISPMs, phytosanitary treatments (PTs) and a recommendation to the Commission of Phytosanitary Measures (CPM). These documents are draft international standards that have been released to contracting parties and the public for global review and comment. More information is available through the web links below.

We are seeking your review of these documents, to assist us in developing and putting forward the Australian comments. To submit comments please return documents with comments in track changes to IPPC.contactpoint@awe.gov.au. Please note that comments on the draft specification are due by COB Monday 16th August. For all other documents comments are due by COB Monday 6th September 2021.

To assist in the review process, we have developed the attached fact sheet which provides additional background to the country consultation process and detailed instructions for providing comment to the IPPC.

CPM Recommendations:

CPM Recommendations are decisions and agreements made by the CPM, according to existing procedures and are intended to promote or achieve the objectives of the IPPC. These decisions and agreements may consist of directions, guidance, or calls to action to the contracting parties or the Secretariat or both, on matters that may not be appropriately or effectively expressed as an ISPM, on which phytosanitary measure(s) are based.
